playground arena 5 - 30.3.07 - cheapart

Andreas Vousouras

Boy’s toys and their ceremonial acts are the pretext for a sharp comment on the relations that overshadow the adult world (war, success, sexual abuse, religious fundamentalism) concluding to an image of a culture, narcissistic and blind. It’s an installation that uses diverse materials and means as toys, bones, sand, videos, sequences from films and the internet, sounds and special lighting effects. Vousouras fragments the gallery’s grounds into a labyrinth of room-cells where he denounces the playground feeling and transforms it into a battleground memory following a confined phobic itinerary.
