TERRA SINE SANGUIS 14.10 -.5.11. 08 - cheapart

Nadia Kalara is presenting in Terra Sine Sanguis, six large scale photographs and an installation composed of three 3d animation videos.

The photographs depict desolate landscapes in which one finds quarries and dumps. The three projections simulate respectively the slow motion of a small planet made up of the depicted landscapes, the low fly over its surface and the tour in a dark, obscure space signalled by a multitude of place names with mythical resonances i.e. Arcadia planitia, Atlantis, Utopia planitia k.a

The images are the result of the digital editing of several takes of one or more points of view. Some of them are attempting an integration of the peripheral view into the image. In others, the same landscape is repeated in slightly different scale and point of view. In any case, the viewer is at the uncomfortable and destabilised position of a simultaneous distance and proximity, as he is watching his gaze constructing the landscape like a scanner, while having an intense sense of shattering matter in the close ups.

Finally, the three fragmented narrations of the projections, three simultaneous but different movements and tours, remain distinct and do not connect the places and the names of the places.
