TRAFIK 20 - 26.5. 08 - cheapart

scafisti scafati [ arta ngucaj, arben beqiraj ] & despina katzagiannaki, projection - installation

“trafik” is constituted of a performance, a projection and an installation. It is a complicated project both technically as conceptually.

The artists of scafisti scafati are boarded on a rubber dinghy so as to travel from Avlona- Albania, to Bari-Italy on the basis of the Biennale of Puglia. The trip will be recorded by video and the material is to be projected. The dinghy, less than 4 meters long, apart from the artists will have aboard an ark with the artwork of scafisti scafati but also of those who feel uncommitted. The artwork will also endure the trip. The video will be displayed at cheapart 20-26.05, and then as an event opposite of the Bologna Museum of Modern Art.

After completing the project «Reflections at Μambo” Bologna Museum of Modern Art) scafisti scafati team made a dynamic entrance into the art scene showing yet 2 additional projects “upstream” and “citypass”. The current exhibition trafik, which is supported by Andriano Baccilieri (well known art critic in Italy) the municipality of Bologna, the cultural sector of Emilia Romagna, the School of Fine Arts of Bologna, the School of Fine Arts of Tirana, and the cultural organization cheapart. Magazines and news Press: Arte, Exibart, Il Sole 24 Ore, La Repubblica, Il Domani, Il Resto del Carlino support the event.

It must be noted the first project “reflections” was the beginning of an important dialogue between the scafisti scafati (Arta – Arben) – Despina Katzagiannaki with Μambo (Bologna Museum of Modern Art), since the facade of the building opposite the Μambo now functions as an open gallery of the scafisti scafati for each of their projects. The artwork that will travel unites the past with new movements, and in this way promotes the cultural dialogue among the countries, as the project makes the connection between Italy-Albania-Greece.
