'Suono' is a sound installation that explores sound circularity, namely the phenomenon of feedback, generated when the output of a sound system is fed back into its input (e.g. a microphone in front of a speaker).

The project is conceptually related to the Ouroboros, which in ancient times symbolized renewal, wholeness, and circularity of time and matter.

In the installation, a series of hanging metal sheets of different sizes and shapes are driven to self-oscillation by a system comprised of contact microphones that pick up the metals' vibrations and contact loudspeakers that feeds the amplified signals it back to them.

A custom-made software tames the feedback by continuously changing gain and equalization. This way, the materials can be made to self-oscillate, at controllable levels, at their various resonant overtones and inharmonic frequencies, creating evolving sound drones.
