What remains when we’re gone? Memories, emotions, stories, acts? Imprints?
At home, in our most personal environment, we live and surround ourselves with objects that are dear and close to us and hold a special meaning for us. Wether it’s an emotional family photo, a precious painting or a personal gift, all these items are more than just a decoration. They speak of formative incidents, dramatic encounters, pure beauty, exciting travels, the past and the origin. These objects have captured moments and memories or were just a delight to the eye and soul of the owner.
The series Remains of a Life is a touching documentation of a past life. Now the objects are missing and accumulated dust and stains at the walls vaguely reminiscent of the life that once filled these rooms. The left behind belongings were handed over to the new owner. However, it remains unknown what caused the imprints–a painting, a family photo, an award or just a decorative object? What remains when we go?
