KALO MINA

widmertheodoridis was founded in Zurich in 2005 and has also been active in Athens since 2015. In addition to art travel and art education, widmertheodoridis focuses on curatorial projects in Switzerland and Greece. The curators Jordanis Theodoridis and Werner Widmer, who continually endeavour to show art in new places and opportunities, have been presenting the KALO MINA project in the artist-run space OTTTO since 2023.

The idea for the KALO MINA project is based on the desire to present a low-threshold stage for current positions from the contemporary art scene in Athens and Switzerland. The artists were given free rein to decide which positions they wanted to present. The only condition was that they had to limit themselves to one work. The openings always take place on the 1st of each month and last one month. In 2023, 12 positions from Switzerland were shown. This year, 12 artists from Greece are presenting their work.

KALO MINA, is a greeting, a wish on the way, for a good journey. A journey into one's own future. KALO MINA as a project and window into the contemporary art world is located at a crossroads. Literally, as the OTTTO art space is located at a crossroads and an access road to the center of Athens. It offers pedestrians the opportunity to take a look in the shop window and at an art work at any time of day or night. It’s a possibility to stop and give yourself the opportunity to pause for a moment, and to reflect. Every month anew. Figuratively speaking, KALO MINA represents one of many decision-making moments in an artist's career. What do I exhibit? Where do I exhibit? Who do I exhibit with? These considerations and decisions set the professional and personal course of every artist's life. Ultimately of everyone, since we all face the same momentous questions in our lives: Who am I? Where am I. Where am I going?
