Platonic Cave
Video – Sound – Performance
“Platonic Cave” takes the oldest scene in media history literally, A vacant bar in the heart of Exarchia – one hundred square meters painted black from floor to ceiling – becomes the cave. Video works flicker across the walls like the fire the prisoners were never allowed to face. Sound works fill the darkness with echoes whose sources remain out of sight.
Installations furnish the underground, while performances return a body.
The title “Platonic Cave” means what it says. Our relationship with images has always been platonic – all gaze, not touch, deep attachment to things that were never quite there. We know the shadows aren’t real. We stay anyway. In an age of unlimited screen time, Plato’s allegory reads less like a warning and more like a «user agreement» we all accepted without reading.
