Sausaging on / Weiterwurschteln

The exhibition title foreshadows a tedious, enduring and long-lasting struggle. On the one hand, the artist is in constant endeavor with the process and production of the artwork. On the other hand, the reality of surviving as an artist and the endless efforts to achieve public understanding of the ideas and concepts involved in the art, are the basic elements explored in this exhibition.

At times the viewer suffers from the artist when required to compose the work himself from prepared pieces hanging on the wall (Anna Khodorkovskaya), submit to the unnatural and awkward representation of the artist in the photo (Elisabeth von Samsonow) - or stand in a room with beehives that suggests an ossuary type burial, dreading the idea of seeing his own name engraved on them (Babis Karalis). A distinctive sample of NATO camouflage in bright pink and orange, reminds us that ultimately, nothing can be fully hidden or concealed (Christian Rupp). And if the viewer is not yet annoyed, then the video of a persona resembling a black-market seller will forcefully attempt to sell tickets on the street for the nearest museum, subjecting the viewer to sheer embarrassment (Pablo Chiereghin). For anyone and everyone, there is something. The conscious art lover will definitely argue whether the chalk artwork created outside the artist by a third party, based solely on a written description of the artist, is in fact, art (Aldo Giannotti). Performances with seemingly unrelated texts are dramatized as short happenings and presented before the audience, intensifying feelings of confusion or exhaustion that assemble the overall image and purpose of the exhibition (Julius Deutschbauer). Whatever the visitor’s mood, he remains an integral part of the exhibition and together with the artist, shares the unbearable lightness and heaviness of exploration.

The exhibition is supported by the Austrian Embassy in Athens.
