CHEAPART 84 TIF
The most prominent art and cultural event for September at Thessaloniki, CHEAPART at the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair, opens with the participation of more than 80 artists and curators.
Initiated in 1995, CHEAPART is one of the most popular art networks in Greece with a strong presence abroad. For over 25 years, CHEAPART has promoted contemporary thought and experimentation, connecting the audience with the artist to create active and compelling dialogue on, and beyond the artwork itself.
CHEAPART opens to its 6th exhibition at the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair, welcoming the city’s art audience to a wide selection of Greek and international artists from September 7th to September 15th, 2019. Each year, hundreds of contemporary art pieces are viewed by 15,000 art lovers within CHEAPART's renovated booth, available to over 260,000 visitors within the TIF premises. Since 2014, CHEAPART has been the official cultural proposal of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, the largest Exhibition & Conference Center in Southeast Europe. Recognized as a prototype exhibition through its innovative networking model and selection of artists, CHEAPART identifies as the largest art event of September in Thessaloniki.
In this context, CHEAPART, the first organization in 1995 that designed and implemented an ambitious cultural program promoting artists and their work, is invited by TIF / Helexpo to be part of the Thessaloniki International Fair. CHEAPART has created a successful model that has maximized opportunities for the art community, and created the grounds for its international presence in Vienna, Amsterdam, Limassol and Nicosia. CHEAPART merges its large family of artists and art lovers with the visiting audience of TIF/HELEXPO. Over the last 25 years, the Organization has maintained continuous presence within the international art networks, introducing more than 1000 artists to the public.
As a part of CHEAPART 84 TIF, the project 'This era - their interpretations' introduces the work of five contemporary artists who draw on the diversity and multiplicity of the exhibition's featured works, to comment on the complexity of our time, seeking visitor interpretations and reactions. Various incidences and events occur unexpectedly, visualized in the works of Rafaelia Efthymiou, Mary Pillakouri, Rodanthi Kollia-Rizou, Lefki Savvidou and Kyriaki Theodorou, curated by Chrisovalanto Georgiou.
For yet another year, CHEAPART welcomes the participation of very young artists through the CHEAPART Young Artists program. Selected participants exhibit together with other fellow artists, taking advantage of the many opportunities offered by organization to meet and network.
For the second consecutive year, CHEAPART presents 25/25 Artists and Designers in Dialogue curated by Fiori Dalla. As a continuation of the dialogue among visual artists and designers, 25/25 project maps the study on the relationship between jewelry and art through an exhibition of the work that documents an exportable, contemporary creative product.
