Beyond Human Impulses
18 international artists present 18 different performances
"Beyond Human Impulses" is a project dedicated to performance art. It was initiated in 2016 in Reykjavik Iceland in collaboration with MENGI, a concert and theatre venue. In less then a year, "Beyond Human Impulses" has presented over 75 performances and is presently relocating to Athens Greece. The project aims in the future, to create a contemporary space with focus on live art.
"Beyond Human Impulses" is presented at an old paper warehouse within the Athens Commercial Triangle. The interior of the building preserves its original characteristics, yet there is nothing left to reveal the previous business. 18 artists participating in Beyond Human Impulses work with the contrasts and the diversity of the space. 3 Chrysospiliotissis Street becomes a point of departure; welcoming the audience to join. An installation piece uses sound and color to convey transformation, another explores the form and convention of speech and how to mediate the condition of fragility. Some pieces are related to the history of theatre, others embrace on the single act of repetition. "Beyond Human Impulses" creates a temporary space where performance work can be realized, discussed, experimented with, and experienced. The diversity of the 18 performance pieces, definitely intensify polarity, trigger enthusiasm and welcome new interpretations.

The performance series "Beyond Human Impulses" is presented by the Athens Intersection Cultural Program as a part of the artistic agenda through which the Athens Commercial Triangle Revitalization Program of the Municipality of Athens, implemented with the exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN), invites us to explore the cultural and historical heritage of Athens. The Old Warehouse of 3 Chrysospiliotissis Street which hosts the exhibition, is courtesy of the Chatzikosta Foundation in the context of the Athens Intersection Cultural Program curated by George Georgakopoulos and coordinated by Fotini Kapiris.
