Ernst und Rosa, Reality Check

Central figures "Ernst and Rosa" tackle the unresolved "problems" of our time

Ernst and Rosa are a couple who represent two very different worlds.
Ernst knows what he wants and how things have to be. He is dealing rationally with life and is perhaps a little pessimistic. Rosa acts on her gut feeling and has a playful attitude.
She wants to feel reality, to release her emotions and to resolve issues by simply asking naive questions.
Her irony and humour often provoke Ernst’s conformality, managing to make him laugh about himself afterwards.
Ernst and Rosa, an unequal couple. Controversial characters, who want and need each other. Seriousness and Provocation. No one knows how Ernst will react, no one knows how Rosa will. Rosa provokes with her naivety. Is she serious about it?

The Artwall Project Space hosts 4 contemporary Austrian and Greek artists who approach reality, personal differences, individual and social problems imposed by Western thought, from a different perspective. Central figures "Ernst and Rosa" suggest the unresolved "problems" of our time to which they must answer. Their individuality creates confusion and misunderstanding between them. The work of the participating artists, creates new insights into the contradictions and difficulties that arise between between males and females, within modern societies.

The work of Karin Pfeifer reflects the social standing of both genders - their individuality and their relationships. Career - household - everyday patterns that coincide with our personal choices. In Constantinos Patsios work, "L'homme qui n'avait pas peur des crocodiles" an expressive mess of elements forces the viewer to a new and fresh interpretations, to stop thinking and start seeing. Hara Piperidou examines the intimate conditions of reality, reveals the conflicting norms associated to contemporary civilization, and the hideous structure of the social system. Anna Reschl takes on a critical approach to the central European lifestyle and our world view. With Newroses, she attempts to put everything into a special relation to each other.

Participating artists: Hara Piperidou, Constantinos Patsios, Anna Reschl, Karin Maria Pfeifer

The Artwall Project Space was initiated in July 2012 as a result of collaboration between the Fresh Hotel Athens and CHEAPART. The aim of the Artwall was to showcase contemporary art and become a catalyst for discussion and collaboration among artists and art professionals. The Artwall's program was designed and implemented (2012-2017) by Fotini Kapiris, artist and curator, to meet requirements and standards of contemporary artistic production.
