The Machine 01
The sacred and the profane
The Machine is the artistic event that welcomes us to the next millennium. It is the first chain of industrial production of artistic works. In order to function, eight volunteers - art workers/ three supervising art mechanics (G. Georgakopoulos, D. Georgakopoulos and Ch. Kehagioglou - KEX), a musician (N. Stavropoulos) and two different sides of the same theorist (Charidina Karaindrou), are needed.
Works of art are produced Before the customers on the industrial production stand. The procedure is accompanied by a novel musical theme, which is written in the light of improving worker's efficiency and productivity and relaxing the customers. On the walls are two theoretical /texts, (propaganda texts), the one praises the produced work and the other disparages the work and the Machine that produces it. The arguments included contribute to developing negative or positive criticism: Do not disturb the machine with your thoughts.
Where is post-Duchamp art heading? The machine and its three creators cannot answer at this moment, leave your message among dilemmas, dualities and ambiguous questions and when mass production eventually stops, you can decide what is sacred and what profane.
