CHEAPART Thessaloniki 2002
CHEAPART is the most organized contemporary art movement in Greece. It has been operating successfully for over seven years since 1995, and contributed substantially in promoting the latest art trends and ideas.
Through a series of 28 exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki, CHEAPART has engaged with an unexpectedly large audience. More than 120 emerging and established artists have participated in CHEAPART exhibitions, testing new work and introducing concepts before a vast and demanding public. In so, the exhibitions provide an exclusive overview of today’s contemporary art trends.
CHEAPART has redefined the notion of artwork seen as a privileged, institutional display, to art viewed and accessed by wide-ranging audiences. CHEAPART has helped people see, understand and buy art. Its unique visual identity expressed through a descriptive language of mottos and slogans voice its positions and viewpoints. To no surprise, these motifs have been frequently reproduced by many galleries and foundations throughout the years.
