1st International Openart Residency
International Artist Residency, 90 artists at Eretria, Greece
Open Art Residency was successfully implemented from June to September, 2008, inviting artists from around the world to work and reside within the hotel premises of Dream Island, at Eretria, Greece.
Dream Island’s managing company Rest Club S.A., in collaboration with CHEAPART, organized the prototype residency program in 15-day rotating schedule, hosting a total of 90 artists from the UK, US, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Germany, Greece, India, Spain, Iceland, Italy, China, Latvia, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Turkey. The aim of the program was to create a network of international artists, open them to new creative perspective and ferment the development of site-specific art. In the four-month period of Open Art Residency, the artists engaged and created dialogue with local community of Eretria.
The 1st International Open Art Residency involved:
• Artwork developed by participating artists
• Guided tour of the artists' works
• Lectures and presentations of artist's work
• Performances
• Meals and other gatherings
