Bioforms2

Bioforms are life, they represent life, parts, unities, structures of living entities. Their depiction is far than easy; however, when it happens, these forms act as robust reminder of every element that nature and human beings, as part of it, bring, keep and develop «inside».

Internal structures of organic systems, cell maps, DNA spirals, fertility units develop a direct dialogue with cosmic motifs, the macrocosm of the planets and universal laws alike. Visual artists experience transactions with bioforms regularly, directly or obliquely, during their aesthetic and conceptual journeys. Genuine, clear, charming, probably unexpected connections between the small and the large, the micro and the macro, have being developed, which often are neglected or forgotten in our days. We, the viewers, are invited to this reminder, in order to reconsider and review the elements we keep inside us, the forms of (our) life, our unit in the entirety.

The artists’ starting points in the «Bioforms2» exhibition vary. Spirals, caducea, mapsrhizomes, reflections of quotidian moments, symbols of life periods, architectural discourses, spherical entities, writing(s)stitches among others develop “bioformically” through delicate works in paper or fabric, prints, projections, constructions, installations, performance.

The «Bioforms2» exhibition constitutes the continuation of the exhibition «Works-Drawings, Works-Bioforms» (May 2006, Athens). In the «Bioforms2» exhibition artists from Greece converse with artists from Austria within a moment in the life of this universal subject.

Presenting on the opening night, «Home knit chromosomes» performance by Christian Rupp and beginning of Gustav Böhm’ s work inprogress.
