Lost in Athens
Athens 2012, a hydrocephalus metropolis seeking its origin and identity within the undisciplined conditions of rapid change. New residents flock within the city as former residents abandon it. New values replace the existing; social and moral barriers of a structured society are substituted by primitive behavior. Liberated, antisocial behavior is frequently dismissed as some form of “social conflict” or as a current and transient issue.
Suddenly everyone strives for a share of the primitive. Daily changes are rapid and cataclysmic; so much as any Athenian corner is unrecognizable the very next day. A radiant city has been disguised into a vague Gotham city, a terra incognita for its residents. Is this everywhere? No!
A small village is resistant. It redefines its cultural values, replacing the depreciated urban slogans with new messages and absolute practices. In the heart of the city center of Athens, 19 artists stand before a new reality with cutting humor and insight, commenting on the social paradox of being “lost in Athens”, lost within our own city.
Participating artists: Brodl Brems, Victoria Deligianni, Christoforos Doulgeris, Giannis Ganas, Nikos Kapiris, Babis Karalis, Angie Karatza, Giannis Koutroulis, Anna Maneta, Nikos Papadimitriou, Nina Pappa, Anetta Spanoudaki, Aggelos Spartalis, Andreas Kamvas-Stavianoudakis, Aggeliki Svoronou, George Tserionis, Andreas Vais, Andonis Volanakis, Andreas Vousouras.

Lost Sounds
Lost Sounds is a three-day musical tribute to the unknown urban music scene, hosted within the exhibition Lost in Athens. Three nights of SOLO improvisation and performance art by three Athenian musicians who are inspired by the atmosphere and sounds of the Metropolis. The artists, both individually and collectively, create an original work recorded as a document, the ideal soundtrack of Athens in 2012 - in the form of an audio diary.
