CHEAPART Amsterdam

CHEAPART embraces the 5th major city of its European network. For one week, over 170 selected artists from all over Europe have the opportunity to meet in Amsderdam, exchange ideas and present their work assisted by groups of Dutch curators and art theorists. CHEAPART Amsterdam takes place at Loods6.
During the past years, CHEAPART has generated a significant pool of visitors, exhibitions and international events. Its ongoing activity has fostered many collaborations among artists, curators, and other cultural organizations. CHEAPART is established as a unique cultural and social platform, an operating model which is successfully implemented outside national borders, while maintaining its infrastructure in any one of the hosting countries. The key to success is penetrating the local scene and integrating with community. In the previous years, CHEAPART carefully planned ahead, examining both current and future situations. The organization focused on sustainably and avoided possible short-term benefits, such as investing in solid partnerships and trustful relationships with the artists and the public. For over 17 years, CHEAPART has continuous presence in the art scene with various interdisciplinary projects and exhibitions. These marks are traces have significant impact on the course of development of contemporary art in Greece.
On October 6, following Vienna and Limassol, CHEAPART opens its next international exhibition in Amsterdam at Loods6, with the participation of 170 artists.

Loods6 / the Foundation
In the Loods6 (Warehouse 6) building in the Amsterdam East Harbour District, The Baggage Hall is an impressive exhibition and presentation space. Thanks to the monumental size of the Baggage Hall and its raw, industrial character, it is sometimes referred to as the “Noble Bunker”. In its earlier life, it was quite literally used as a baggage depot for the Royal Dutch Steamboat Company, the KNSM. In April of 1997, the former baggage hall began its current use as an exhibition space. Since then it has hosted numerous exhibitions, cultural events, workshops and other events. Since 1992, the neighbourhood around Loods6 has rapidly mushroomed into a district where new architecture, design, art and business reinforce one another in a successful and self-evident mix.
