polyrhythmically, or if you prefer symphonically

The exhibition’s title is borrowed from Lefebvre’s book Rhythmanalysis: Space, Time and Everyday Life. The writer/philosopher describes the ‘spectacle’ of windows in order to study the notion of rhythm through observing city life.
In the last two years, we have witnessed how mobility and stability have been widely affected by the pandemic. This gave us a glimpse and an opportunity in reimagining a slower and a non-linear rhythm of urbanism while bringing up issues of spatial (in)justice.
Athens is a high-density population city and is widely described as hybrid and with various dynamics. The exhibition attempts to grasp, trace, observe and archive a part of the infinite rhythm of the contemporary Athenian landscape. For the interpretation of the city’s landscape and tempo, the exhibition looks into the correlation between entities/beings, their actions/movement and the built environment around them. Through this endeavour, the exhibition presents the works of artists and designers and encourages the viewer to reflect upon the next beats of their own rhythm.
